The outcome is the party officially recognized as the Senate’s majority party at noon US Eastern on 31 January 2027, including independents’ caucus affiliations and the vice-president’s tie-breaking role. “Neither” applies only if neither named party holds that status. The Senate’s leadership page and official records establish the outcome. If verification is delayed, the question remains unresolved until records establish the status at the original snapshot.
